ANU Commencement to welcome new students

Media are invited to attend as thousands of new students will be officially welcomed to The Australian National University (ANU) on Monday at the 2018 ANU Commencement Ceremony.

ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt will welcome the new students, while ANU Alumna and Indigenous education advocate Jessa Rogers will give the Commencement Address.

The Commencement is a colourful and formal opening of the academic year at ANU and welcome for new students, many of whom will be living in Canberra for the first time.

The event will take place on the campus lawns of University Avenue.

The event, which includes a procession of new students, will be webcast live.
