ANU opens new South East Asia Liaison office

Friday, September 28, 2018 — The Australian National University has opened an office in Singapore, expanding its presence in Southeast Asia and enhancing Australia’s engagement with the Asian education sector.

The ANU Southeast Asia Liaison Office will be based at the Australian High Commission in Singapore.

The Southeast Asia Liaison Office launch coincided with Professor Schmidt’s keynote address at the Good Science = Great Business 2018: An Australian Festival of Innovation.

Professor Schmidt told the Gala Dinner ANU has a special relationship with Singapore, dating back several decades.

“The office will ensure we enhance our efforts as Australia’s most international university, and drive international collaboration to increase research quality and impact,” Professor Schmidt said.

“The office will interlink research and academic partnerships, give our valued alumni and community a central hub and assist with philanthropy.”

“It will foster the development of partnerships and collaboration with higher education and research institutions, policy think tanks, government agencies, businesses and other interested parties based in the region,” Professor Schmidt said.

The Southeast Asia office brings the University’s overseas office network to three, with ANU having offices in Washington, USA and Beijing in China.
