Tuesday, October 24, 2017 — Minister for Foreign Affairs Julie Bishop MP will be at The Australian National University on Tuesday evening to launch the Pacific Research Program (PRP) — a four-year, $20 million program funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The PRP will be a global centre of excellence for research on the Pacific.
ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt will host the event and speak about the new program, as well as how the ANU has helped Australians build their understanding of the Pacific region.
The program will be implemented by a consortium led by the ANU Department of Pacific Affairs (formerly the State, Society and Governance in Melanesia Program), including the ANU Development Policy Centre and the Lowy Institute.
