Monday, October 23, 2017 — Media are invited to a sneak preview of the new glass trophies for the Australian of the Year Awards, designed and produced by The Australian National University (ANU) in a partnership with the National Australia Day Council (NADC).
The state trophies will be unveiled by ANU Vice-Chancellor Professor Brian Schmidt at the ANU School of Music’s Larry Sitsky Recital Room on Tuesday 24 October at 10.am.
Students from the School of Art and Design, and the Research School of Physics and Engineering have been involved in designing and making the glass trophies to be awarded to the state and national winners of the Australian of the Year.
The first State finalists will be announced on Thursday.
The NADC also commissioned ANU School of Music to compose and produce music to be played at the National Australian of the Year Award ceremony to be televised nationally on January 25 next year.
