Monday, June 5, 2017 — Former Opposition Leader Kim Beazley on Monday will launch a new book which honours the career of distinguished public servant, intelligence head and academic at The Australian National University (ANU), Emeritus Professor Paul Dibb AM.
Media are invited to attend the launch of the book Geography, Power, Strategy & Defence Policy, on Monday 5 June at 5.30 pm at the Hedley Bull Centre at ANU.
The book is a collection of essays which honour Professor Dibb’s contribution in shaping Australia’s defence policy and strategy.
Professor Dibb is Emeritus Professor of strategic studies at the ANU Strategic and Defence Studies Centre (SDSC) in the College of Asia and the Pacific.
He spent almost two decades in Australian Defence intelligence and served as the Director of the Joint intelligence Organisation and as Deputy Secretary of Defence before joining the SDSC.
He is the author of five books and four reports to government, as well as more than 150 academic articles and monographs about the security of the Asia-Pacific region, the US alliance, and Australia’s defence policy.
He was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 1989.
