Wednesday, May 17, 2017 — The Hon Linda Burney MP will discuss Truth-telling and generosity at The Australian National University (ANU) on Wednesday as part the 50th Anniversary of the 1967 Referendum and Reconciliation Week celebrations.
Media are invited to attend the public lecture, Truth-telling and generosity: our progress so far and the road ahead, on Wednesday 17 May at 6pm at the John Curtin School of Medical Research.
As a proud member of the Wiradjuri nation, Linda was the first Aboriginal person to be elected to the NSW Parliament and the first Aboriginal woman to serve in the Australian House of Representatives. Linda's commitment to Indigenous issues spans more than 30 years.
Linda has a long held commitment the prevention of domestic violence and family violence and has detailed publically her personal experience with it. She has held senior positions in the non-government sector serving on a number of boards including the SBS, the NSW Anti-Discrimination Board, and the NSW Board of Studies.
