Friday, July 14, 2017 — Hi everyone,
Thank you to everyone who was involved in creating and sharing content for graduations this week. The graduations created a buzz on social media and the student stories and campaign page all looked fantastic.
I’d like to invite you to our next Campus-Wide News Conference on Tuesday 18 July, 11am-noon. This time, we'll be in the Seminar Room at the Centre for Arab & Islamic Studies Building next to the Chancelry.
Nine News Canberra senior journalist Harry Frost will again try to join us for our ‘Day in the Life’ series and to give some insight into local TV news.
The fortnightly meetings are a chance to catch up with peers and find out what is happening on campus. Please let me know if there is someone from your area who you would like me to invite.
Meeting agenda: 1. ANU in the media over the past fortnight 2. Forthcoming news stories and pitches 3. News events forecast 4. Guest speaker.
Here is a link to our news calendar: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ePjHG1-YAKqejy5sbEyMS5Q-w85hPSQ2CWI0lmMXdLE/edit#gid=19.
If you have any suggestions of speakers you would like to see please let us know.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or story ideas ahead of our meeting.
Also a reminder that SCAPA team will hold a free media skills workshop for ANU academics and senior postgraduate (research) students on Wednesday 26 July, 9am – 12.30pm. We’d appreciate it if you could pass this on to anyone interested, and share the invitation with your networks.
These workshops give participants an insight into how the media works, what journalists want from you and the benefits to academics from engaging with the media.
The workshops provide practical sessions on interview scenarios for radio and TV in the ANU media studio; social media, featuring a live tweeting exercise; and field videography for media broadcast.
The session will be held in the Ross Hohnen Room in the Chancelry, East Road, ANU, and morning tea will be offered.
